THE team more popularly known as Lob City because of the record-breaking number of alley-oops they could make in 48 minutes is more than just an exciting team now, they are a winning one.
The Los Angeles Clippers’ streak of 17 games won might have been snapped but let’s focus on the fact that they achieved such remarkable feat and at the rate they’re going, could probably still do it again.
The Clips are in a zone, playing to their full potential.
Chris Paul with his numbers and leadership has been making a strong case as this season’s best point guard. Blake Griffin, the one-man highlight reel, is now doing more than what Sportscenter shows. DeAndre Jordan has been taking his game to new heights both literally and figuratively.
Jamal Crawford is an early favorite to win Sixth Man of the Year again. And the rest of the team have been solid and have had their moments also.
No question, this team’s got the talent and each is looking to be in peak form. But much better than that, these talents, they mesh well together. And that is the main
reason why they are one of the top teams in the NBA right now.
Best indicator is the Clippers’ league-leading, 23.5 assists per game. They share the ball. They trust each teammate.
I’ve watched six Clippers game this season and I can only marvel on how much they enjoy playing with one another. There’s always a joke or two shared on the court and on the bench. And hugs, high-fives, taps on the head, pats on the rear, chest bumps go around a lot. Yes, all of the teams do that but I’m pretty sure not as often and as much as LAC does. Plus the guys hang out off the court a number of times also.
Their chemistry is as perfect as a CP3-to-Blake-alley-oop-on-the-break play. Picture that.
