SRP to host international motocross on Jan. 26

MOTOCROSS racing in the South will start the year with a bang as the Man and Machine Racing Promotions begins the Kopiko Astig 3 in One Supercross Series 2013 with an international race at the South Reclamation Properties on Jan. 26 and 27.
Man & Machine Racing race director Edsel Odulio announced that there will be 10 foreign riders who are scheduled to race in the first Leg.
“We have four riders from Denmark and two each from Thailand, Japan and Indonesia while we also expect our local and national riders to be competing,” Odulio told Sun.Star Cebu.
Cebuano riders will be led by the Jon-Jon Adlawan, the son of the Man & Machine president Jonas Adlawan.
National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (Namssa), which governs the sport, has been throwing its support to the Kopiko Supercross Series and was responsible for bringing the European and Asian riders to this race.
Jake Alcordo, Man & Machine marketing chief, meanwhile, said that the SRP race is just the start of the 12-leg series for the year.
“We have a total of 12 races for the entire year. This means we will have one race per month and it will not only be held in Cebu we have scheduled races in Negros Oriental in February, Bacolod, Dumaguete, Dipolog, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Roxas City and Ormoc. One leg is also scheduled in Luzon,” Alcordo said.
Adlawan was grateful for Kopiko for supporting motorcross that gave the riders the chance to entertain the crowd as well as providing them with livelihood.
The Kopiko Supercross Series will have 13 categories --Local Enduro, Open Enduro, Beginners Open Production, Novice Open, Intermediate, Pro Elite, Pro Open, Veterans A, Veterans B, Veterans C, Mini, Peewee 50cc, Peewee 65cc and Under A and Under B.
The series is also supported by Alcordo Advertising.
Aside from the cash prizes and trophies – the riders are also competing for the individual category titles as well as the Rider of the Year title.
The Rider of the Year title will be given to the top points earner at the end of the year.
