POC orders status quo in billiards row

DENNIS Orucollo and the country’s top billiards players will keep their slots in the Philippine national billiards team after Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco decided to intervene in the impasse.
POC still recognizes Dennis Orcullo and his group as the rightful members of the Philippine National Billiards team, voiding Billiard Sports Confederation of the Philippines (BSCP) head Arturo “Bong” Ilagan’s order to delist Orcullo, Irish Rañola, Reynaldo Grandea, Rubillen Amit, Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante from the national squad.
“As far as Peping (Cojuangco), he ordered a status quo until we (BSCP) can resolve the issue of leadership,” Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (Bmpap) president and Bugsy Promotions head Perry Mariano told Sun.Star Cebu.
According to Mariano, Cojuangco sent a letter to the Philippines Sports Commission last week, requesting the continued recognition of the 2012 lineup and to maintain the status quo until the leadership issue of the billiards NSA will be resolved.
Ilagan sent a letter to PSC last Dec. 26 informing the government sports body that they replaced Orcullo and the rest with young and talented players who will most likely represent the country to the Southeast Asian Games in December.
