ALASKA Aces head coach Luigi Trillo is expecting his Commissioner’s Cup reinforcement Robert Dozier to arrive in the country next week in time for the Sinulog Cup Basketball tournament, which will be on Jan. 31-Feb. 2 at the Cebu Coliseum.
According to Trillo, the 6’9” Dozier, who was picked by Miami Heat as its second round draft choice in 2009, had passport problems that prevented him to fly to Manila this week.
Dozier’s passport will expire in six months preventing him from leaving the US until he can fix his problem.
Alaska is one of the three PBA teams who will be joining the three-day Sinulog Cup. It will join Barangay Ginebra Kings, Petron Blaze Boosters and local bet M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños in the tournament.
Trillo further confirmed that Dozier, who played alongside Derrick Rose in Memphis in college has already signed a contract with Alaska. However, in case Dozier will fail to sort out his documents in time, the Aces already has another player in mind.
