New format for Sinulog Beach Volley

IT will be the last man standing as the 1st Sinulog Beach Volleyball Cup will follow the “King of the Beach” format.
The event, which will be held at the newly installed sand court at the back of Fort San Pedro, will kick off with the men’s division this weekend, while the women’s division will be on Feb. 2 and 3.
The tournament will be overseen by Eric Licain of the Philippine Sports Commission, who coordinated with the Cebu City Sports Commission together with the Sinulog Foundation to make the event possible.
With the new format, the best players in Cebu and from out-of-town will be playing as an individual instead as a team as they battle for supremacy in the sand court.
Also, no one knows who will win until the very end, unlike many school and commercial tournaments where the outcome is usually predictable.
Each participant will play with a different person every game and the players with the most points scored will advance to the playoffs.
In the playoffs, there will be a final round-robin elimination and the player with the most points will be crowned King of the Beach.
