Pinoy gets shot for No. 1 spot in ONE FC

In ONE FC 7 “Return of the Warriors” on Feb. 2 at the Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the unbeaten Lakay MMA standout Rey Docyogen will get his chance to prove that he is not just one of the best in the Philippines but also in Asia as he takes on the toughest tests of his MMA career against Japanese veteran Shinichi Kojima for the No. 1 spot in the flyweight division.
“Docyogen has been clamoring for a chance to fight in ONE FC and he now gets his opportunity to showcase his abilities. He has defeated every single fighter put in front of him in the Pinweight division. He has been so good he cleaned out the entire Pinweight division and now has his eyes set on defeating the best flyweights in Asia. He might be smaller in stature as compared to his opponent, but he more than makes up for it with his diverse skills and rugged determination,” ONE FC CEO Victor Cui told Sun.Star Cebu.
The 29-year-old Docyogen, a stable mate of Philippine MMA star Eduard Folayang, is the current URCC pinweight titleholder and has an impressive 10-0 slate. He owns over Jessie Rafols and Guamanian Jordan Ogo.
Docyogen is off a submission win over former pro boxer Rodel Orais, who in his boxing heyday has fought the likes of Manny Pacquiao tormentor Medgoen Singsurat and Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista.
On the other hand, the 33-year-old Kojima is a 10-year veteran of the game is a former Shooto bantamweight titleholder with a reign from 2006 to 2010.
He has fought the likes of current Bellator FC bantamweight king Eduardo Dantas and UFC fighter Jussier Formiga. He also owns two victories over former Shooto champion Mamoru Yamaguchi. He is 12-5-5 in MMA.
