Top teams score wins in Aboitiz Cup

TOP teams delivered convincing performances in the Boys 17 category of the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field.
John Gomora of the Abellana National School had a solid game, scoring eight goals in their 17-0 demolition of South Hills.
The other players who contributed to the scoring rampage were Mailkevin Delantes and Jake Ramos, who scored two goals each, and Pedro Diao, Kennedy Cuizon, Rogelio Castellon, Patrick Polistico and Michael Reute with one apiece.
Another top team, Don Bosco Technical Center (DBTC), also finished its business with a 6-1 beating of University of San Carlos Basic Education Department (USC-BED).
Paref-Springdale, however, bowed to Blessed John, 2-0.
The lady booters of Cebu Inmaculada Concepcion- Mandaue scored a 3-0 win over the Cebu International School behind the efforts of Amber Villaflor, Rena Tizon and Lea Cepeda.
St. Theresa’s College had it easy scoring a default win over South Hills, while San Roque Football Club crushed Bright Academy, 10-1.
In the Boys 14 division, DBTC-2 prevailed over Paref Springdale-B in a lopsided 17-0 win.
Its other team, DBTC-1, lost to Paref-Springdale-A, 2-0.
St. Joseph Academy Mandaue edged San Roque Football Club, 5-3.
In the Boys 12 matches, Bright Academy routed CIS, 4-1; Giuseppe defeated DBTC-2, 5-0; and Canduman defeated DBTC-3, 4-0.
However, DBTC-1 made up for these losses as it scored an 18-0 win over VEPS, while SRP FC and Dinamo FC figured in a 2-all draw.
In the Players 10, DBTC-1 and DBTC-2 won their respective matches.
DBTC-1 defeated VEPS, 7-0, while DBTC-2 defeated Hijas de Jesus, 5-1.
Canduman FC, on the other hand, silenced CPMS, 10-0; Giuseppe beat Bright Academy, 5-2; while Subangdaku defeated CIS, 4-2.
It was a 2-2 draw between Holy Infant and SRFC.
In the Players 8, USC-BED won by default over Paref-Springdale, while SRFC edged CIS,
3-2.
It was a scoreless draw between DBTC-D and Bright-B, while DBTC-3 slaughtered DBTC-1, 10-0.
In other games, VEPS blanked DBTC-3, 3-0; Consolacion edged Lahug, 1-0; DBTC-C defeated John Kenty, 5-0; Lahug B defeated DBTC-B, 6-0; while DBTC-2 defeated DBTC-A, 1-0.
Today's highlight of matches will be the finals if the inter-company division between Innodata and Erich Rafael Construction.
