THE University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers and the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles rivalry continued, this time for the Sealoil-NBTC Elite League Cebu leg title following their semifinal victories last Sunday.
The Baby Lancers proved too tough for the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers with a 75-62 win while the Magis Eagles lorded it over Cebu Eastern College Dragons with a 58-49 victory.
Ralph Jude Dinolan topscored for UV with 16 points, Gerald Fernandez added 15 and Andres Paul Desiderio finished with 11, that helped the Baby Lancers keep a 42-32 lead all throughout the second half.
SHS-AdC, meanwhile, managed to keep an 8-point halftime lead, 27-19 with Hynric Dawn Ochea topping with 11 points, Arc Gabrielle and Felixberto Jaboeta contributed with 10 points respectively to march the Magis Eagles to the finals.
The best of three finals will start on Feb. 2, where the winner will advance to the national finals playing against the other champion teams from all over the country.
This is the fourth encounter of UV and SHS-AdC—two in the Cesafi high school finals and their second for the NBTC finals.
Last year, the Magis Eagles defeated UV on its way to claim its back-to-back NBTC National title.
