IF everything goes according to plan, ALA Promotions will pit two promising unbeaten fighters in one of the bouts in Pinoy Pride XIX in Davao City.

Recently crowed Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super flyweight champion Arthur Villanueva faces his toughest test against fellow up-and-comer RP super flyweight king Marco Demecillo “Singwangcha” on April 20 at the University of Southern Philippines (USP).

“We can’t say that it is hundred percent confirmed, but we have already agreed on this,” said ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer.

Villanueva recently won the OPBF crown after a unanimous decision over Japanese Taiki Eto in Japan last December. Villanueva, 21-0 with 12 knockouts, also fought and beat the likes of former world title contender Pramuansak Posuwan, world-rated Mark Anthony Geraldo and current World Boxing Council International flyweight champion Rey Megrino.

Demecillo, 18-0 with 14 knockouts, has been knocking out opponents here and there. His last six fights didn’t go the distance, including wins over erstwhile undefeated boxer Marvin Mabait and Marjun Tabamo.

The main event features former world title challenger Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista.

“We felt that we had to do something in Davao. This is the first time we will bring a Pinoy Pride event there,” said Aldeguer.
