SUBMISSION specialist Vaughn Donayre has his eyes on the prize and will fight anyone wherever and whenever just to reach his goal of becoming an MMA champion.
“I will continue fighting and winning fights, which may open up the door for a shot at the title,” the unbeaten 30-year-old MMA warrior, who trains out of Yaw-Yan Ardigma and Deftac Cebu, said.
Fresh from a win last month, Donayre will once again put on his four-ounce gloves and travel to Baguio City to take on veteran Muay Thai fighter Robert Buminaang in “Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) – Unleashed” on March 2 at the Baguio Convention Center.
A crack at the URCC lightweight title is just looming around the corner for Donayre because the current titleholder Honorio Banario will most likely relinquish the belt after recently been crowed the ONE FC featherweight champion.
Donayre is off an impressive second-round submission victory over veteran Allan Atup last Jan. 19 in “URCC Cebu 8 –Survival” at the J-Center Convention Center. He is 4-0 in his MMA career, which started in 2011. Three of his wins are from submissions, while the other is a technical knockout.
Buminaang is 0-1 in MMA. His only fight was a first-round submission loss to Filipino MMA star Eric Kelly in 2006.
