DBTC rules Boys 17

DON Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) made up for its one-sided loss to Leylam Little Azkals in the Boys 14 division last Saturday by wresting the Boys 17 crown in the 10th Thirsty Football Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center.
DBTC edged out Abellana National School in a 1-0 thriller in the Boys-17 championship match. Angelo Ouano scored the lone goal to clinch the win for DBTC.
Two other Don Bosco squads won titles in the biggest annual football festival in Cebu City. Don Bosco-B blanked Ateneo de Cebu-A, 2-0, for the Boys 12 title, while Don Bosco Razkals beat sister squad Don Bosco, 2-0. Miko Murillo was named MVP in the Players 10 division.
Hiroshi B captured the 42-and-above crown with a 1-0 win over Erco. Joseph Generoso grabbed MVP honors.
Erco-B defeated sister squad Erco-A, 1-0, for the 36-and-Above title with Jezurel Tonog, who was named MVP.
In the girls divisions, Ateneo de Cebu squeaked past Saint Theresa’s College, 1-0, for the Girls-17, with Ane Ugarte winning the MVP, while San Carlos City defeated Ateneo de Davao, 1-0, in the Girls-14 finals. Isabel Carmona won the MVP award.
Eagles Team Davao defeated CIE Lions Tacloban in a 3-2 nailbiter in the Players 8 category. Psalm Emmanuel Loquero won the MVP award.
In the men’s open, which attracted more than 70 entries, teams who advanced to the round of 16 were University of Cebu (UC), Centcomm Mizkits, Leylam-A, Queen City United (QCU), Los Membros FC, University of San Carlos (USC), Bro Nationals,
University of Southern Philippines (USPF) Alumni and Erco B.
UC edged out Rising Sun FC, 3-2 in the round of 32, while Cetcomm beat Kn Ferraren-A, 1-0 and Leylam-A won against FC Inter Cebu, 1-0. In the other results, QCU crushed University of San Jose-Recoletos Commerce United, 2-0; Los Membros defeated MCFC Aksyon Padayon, 2-1; USC won against Silliman University, 1-0; Bro Nationals beat Arkiteks United, 1-0; USPF beat Panalpina-A, 1-0; and Erco-B sneaked past Hiroshi, 2-1.
The other Round-of -2 games between San Roque Rehab and Don Bosco Alumni-A; Don Bosco Alumni-B and Warshockz; Leylam B and Accenture; Erco-A and Indiana FC; Tagbilaran FC and Visayas State University; Centcomm Mizkits-B and Don Bosco Alumni-C; and Balamban FC-B and UP SMB were not available at press time.
