P8 semifinals cast complete

THE Players 8 is now down to the final four after the quarterfinals yesterday of the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Aboitiz Sports Field.
Powerhouse Don Bosco Technical Center's title defense stays alive after two of its teams advanced to the semifinals. They will be joined by Lahug Elementary School-B and Bright Academy-A in the next round.
DBTC-3 silenced Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 3-0, behind the goals of Leonel Fernandez, John Orbe and Voughn Pacaña.
DBTC-4, on the other hand, eliminated University of San Carlos- Basic Education as they handed the team's first loss in a 5-0 beating.
Cyrus Franzuela scored two goals, while Ian Aparri, Carl Castillo and Pat Compra scored a goal apiece.
"We dominated the game and we will work hard to defend the title," said DBTC head coach Ray Calo.
Also considered in strong contention for the title are the boys from Lahug Elementary School, who were crowned champions in the Players 8 category of the Sinulog Football Festival last month.
Lahug-B walloped Hijas-D, 7-1, behind Francis Keith Mawe’s hat trick.
The third best team, Bright Academy- A, pulled an upset over Bracket A leader Bright Minds Active Learning Village, 2-0, through Holby Tatoy and Charlie Hoyle’s goals.
In the Players 10, SHS-AdC-B and Giuseppe won their fourth straight wins to remain on top of their groups.
SHS-AdC-B escaped CIE-A, 2-0, while Giuseppe routed Subangdaku FC, 8-2. The match between VEPS and CIE-B resulted to a scoreless draw.
