23 Cebuanos in nat’l training pool

TWENTY-THREE Cebuano football players will have a chance to suit up for three national age group teams after making it to the national training pool.
Seven players for the Boys Under-13 division, 10 from the Boys Under-11 age group and six from the Girls Under-14 class were picked from the Cebu Football Association (CFA) squads that saw action in the Philippine Football Federation Festival of Football in San Carlos City over the weekend.
Sean Kyle Go of Bright Academy, Philip Anthony Fernandez of Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus (SHS-HdJ) , Mark Ivan Ouano of University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), Pietre Dakay of Paref-Springdale, Lloyd Soco of Banilad Elementary School, Leo Gabriel Maquiling and Carlos Berlin of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) all made it to the Boys Under-13 training pool.
The CFA Boys Under-13 team had a dominant performance in the regional tryouts, beating Negros Occidental Football Association (Nofa) , 2-0, Negros Oriental Football Association (Norfa), 6-1, and Iloilo Football Association (IFA), 2-1.
Those who made the cut in the Boys Under-11 division are Don Bosco Technology Center’s Louis Joaquin Buyco, Tristan Karl Enad, Paul Vincent Mapula, Vince Kristi Colina, Josh Rupert Asignar, Yuan Jose Mari Rena and Charles Clarin Unabia, Center for International Education’s Edward Joon Cho, SHS-AdC’s Ethan Charles Deller, SHS-HdJ’s Louie Arreglo, Itsuko Bacatan of Academe Inc., Arantxa Trebol of St. Joseph Academy, Jan Angela Torrefiel of Sotero Cabahug Forum for Literacy, Aubrey Velasquez of Colegio de la Inmaculada Conception Mandaue, Jan Rees Jumawan and Alexa Ceniza of Saint Theresa’s College.
“The players that are in the training pool from Luzon, Visayas and Minadanao will be training for two months and the coaches will come up with players for the RP team. The Girls Under-14 team will be playing in a tournament in Vietnam, while the Boys Under-13 team will be playing in Kuala Lumpur for the AFC Festival of Football,” Francis Ramirez said.
The Boys Under-11 RP National team, on the other hand, will be preparing for international competition for next year. Ramirez said that there will be a mini-training camp for the Boys Under-11 training pool on March 21 to 24 tentatively scheduled here in Cebu City.
