JERSON Mancio makes another title defense of his RP light flyweight title this month.

Mancio, who trains out of the famed ALA Gym, is taking on resurging Robel Villegas for his second title defense at The Flash Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Manila on May 18.

Mancio captured the vacant RP crown in 2011 following a unanimous decision over fellow prospect Jason Canoy.

After that win, the 25-year-old Cebu-based boxer tried his luck in Japan but he didn’t have much success and lost back-to-back fights there.

He lost via a fourth round knockout to current World Boxing Association mini-flyweight king Ryo Miyazaki and dropped a unanimous decision to Junichi Ebisuoka.

Mancio is currently riding on a three fight winning streak.

Despite winning four straight bouts following a long layoff, Villegas will have his hands full against Mancio because the latter is more experienced and has fought some world-class opposition.

Mancio will be Villegas’ toughest foe to date.

Mancio has a 16-3-3 slate with seven knockouts, while Villegas is 9-6 with three knockouts.
