BRO-ERCO Football Club will be among the teams in the Philippine Football Federation-sanctioned Barotac Nuevo Football Club Fiesta Cup from June 5 to 13 in Barotac, Iloilo.

The team will join the men’s open and will heavily contend against Philippine Army Football Club, Iloilo selection, Bacolod selection, Central Philippine University-Koreans, and Capiz FC who were invited to this event in coordination with Chieffy Caligdong Football Para sa Bayan.

For this event, Bro FC and Erco FC merged to become one team and took in players from the different football clubs.

Glen Ramos will take charge as head coach to be assisted by Jinggoy Roa.

The selection for the pool of players came from the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR)-Alumni, University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), University of Cebu (UC), Southwestern University (SWU), San Roque FC and Hiroshi FC.

Some university players are Arigbe Emmanuel Princewill, Olajorin Oluwasejun Tunde, Abdulmalik Ismael, Ihedioha Anthony, Oladunjoye Olatomiwa, Kingsley Elehibiri, Kofa Howard, Okripa Famous and Jaybee Malinao from UC and Bossa and Zedrick Tumbo of SWU.

Team manager Rodney Orale is confident that the foreign-based players they signed from these schools will be a major boost for the squad.

Known former varsity players Aljohn Armamento from USPF and Heintje Ruiz and Juvan Torres from USJR-alumni, as well as Gary Garciano and Adrianne Mejaran from SRFC, wil play a major role in the team.

National team forward Ian Araneta will also reinforce the team after Philippine Air Force FC withdrew from the tournament. Hiroshi’s Jan Michael Flores, Ariel Rositt and Jesus Menaling were also signed to the team.

The six teams will be divided into two brackets and the top two per bracket will advance to the crossover semifinals.

The team is the only one from Cebu and is set to leave on Thursday. They had already asked for the assistance of the Cebu City Government to let them use the bus for the team’s transportation.

Although pressed for time, the team was in rigorous training sessions this week to be in shape for the tough competition that awaits it.
