Globalport takes Jay, Taha from Ginebra-A A +A

GLOBALPORT released 6’9” Japeth Aguilar and 6’6” Jason Deutchman, but got veteran Jay Washington from Petron Blaze and 6’8” Yousef Taha from Ginebra in a four player, three-team trade in the Philippine Basketball Association.
Globalport basketball operation head Erick Arejola said that they decided to part ways with Aguilar because they need players, who are more adept at low post to remedy their weaknesses that caused them to end up at the bottom of the standing in the past two conferences.
In addition to getting the 6’9” Washington for Deutchman, Globalport also got the second-round draft pick in 2017, and while getting Taha in exchange for Aguilar, the
Mikee Romero-owned franchise also enjoys Ginebra’s first-round pick in the forthcoming annual drafting.
“Jaywash and Taha fill the void and weaknesses of Globalport in the post. Also, we can use the pick we got to rebuild our team. With the addition of Washington, things are looking good for us. I’ll be happy if we advance to the playoff round this time around,” said Romero.
Arejola said he believed Aguilar, who is a member of the Gilas Pilipinas national pool could be more useful and effective with his new team.
The PBA takes a long break to pave way for the country’s hosting of the 2013 FIBA-Asia Championship on Aug. 1 to 11. Exciting actions will resume immediately after FIBA-Asia tilt for the 2013 Governor’s Cup.
