THE University of San Jose- Recoletos (USJ-R) did not waste any time in beating the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U), 25-17, 25-13, 25-14, to log another victory in the men’s volleyball competition of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) last Friday at the Aznar Coliseum.
In the first set, Wildcats showed agressiveness but the Jaguars successfully warded off all attempts behind a strong defense, to take the set and the momentum.
The Wildcats’ fire seemed to be doused as they allowed several reception errors in the ensuing sets that only helped USJ-R secure the victory.
James Lawas, USJ-R’s captain, along with Kevin Labay and Mark Petancio led the team to victory.
In the second game, the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras lost to the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), with the score of 25-21, 25-22, 25-18. (Lara Bersabal, SWU Masscomm intern)
