CCSC to launch major programs today-A A +A

BECAUSE of some hitches, the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) is re-scheduling the launching of the Sports Museum but will push through with the other scheduled events for today with the Philippine Sports Commission officers and Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama.
CCSC chairman Edward Hayco told Sun.Star Cebu that although the initial preparations for the launching of the Sports Museum are complete, there are still more things to be done before it will formally introduced to the public.
“After our meeting with Ricky (Ballesteros, the Cebu City Sports Center manager), we felt that is it alright to present the concept (of the Sports Museum) to the Mayor (Rama) and PSC Chairman Ritchie (Garcia) for their approval and guidance. It will not be a launching,” Hayco said.
However, CCSC will be showing Mayor Rama and Chairman Garcia the concept that the sports commission and the Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC) have been working on for months.
The sports museum will display the memorabilia of the former and present Cebuano athletes who played for the country in international competitions.
“We just wanted the young athletes as well as the general public to know what these people have done for the country and for Cebu, especially those who have been inducted to the Cebu Sports Hall of Fame. This is not limited to their achievements, we also welcome the equipment they used during the time that they were there,” Hayco said.
Instead of the Sports Museum, CCSC will launch five grassroots events—the relay race, the softball-baseball clinic, chess tournament, monthly table tennis tournament and the beach volleyball competition.
