UC takes lead in first day of Cesafi athletics-A A +A

POWERHOUSE University of Cebu (UC) is set to reclaim its dominance as it took the lead in the first day of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) athletics competition at the Cebu City Sports Center.
UC, which dominated the college level for more than 10 years before losing the title to the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) last year, collected six golds, nine silvers and seven bronze medals. USPF got four golds, three silvers and one bronze.
The gold medalists for UC are Jason Giganto in the men’s discus throw, Rizza Bausin in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase, Reymar Bautro in the 110m men’s hurdles, Daisy Mae Lawas in the women’s 110m hurdles, Muyene Kimberly Alforque in the long jump and Lynette Urzua in the women’s 200m dash.
Those who won gold medals for USPF are John Daryl Manos in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase, Ken Montellano in the men’s shot put, Khenly Parcon in the men’s 200m dash and John Cliff Debulosan in the men’s 1,500m run.
The University of San Carlos is at third with four golds, two silver and three bronze medals, while Southwestern University got two silver and three bronze medals.
In the secondary division, UC is also leading with a 9-5-7 haul, while the University of San Carlos is at second with 5-7-9. The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu is at third with two golds and three silver medals.
