Cesafi to wait for court decision before resuming games-A A +A

IT’S up to the court now.
This is what Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. lawyer Baldomero Estenzo said after submitting the league’s motion for reconsideration in the sala of Judge Simeon Dumdum Jr.
Their motion is in reply to the temporary restraining order granted to Scott Aying of the University of San Carlos after he was disqualified to play for failing to comply with the league’s two-year residency rule.
“The points they all raised were legal matters. We will just have to wait for the decision of the court,” said Estenzo, who was accompanied by Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy and deputy commissioner Danny Duran.
Aying was represented by Atty. Donato Gonzales.
Because of the case, games in the high school division—involving USC, the University of the Visayas, Cebu Eastern College and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu—have been put on hold since Sept. 18.
Estenzo said the Cesafi board has decided not to push through with the games until the case gets resolved.
“It is important to the teams that this case gets resolved,” said Estenzo, who added he has no idea when the court will come out with a decision.
