DECORATED wushu world champion Rene Catalan gives MMA another go as he sees action in the ONE FC cage again.
Catalan, who failed in his MMA debut last April, takes on Cambodian newcomer Khim Dima on Oct. 18 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The 35-year-old Catalan, a fierce striker, dropped his first fight in MMA after being caught with an armbar in the first round by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) world champion Alex Silva.
Catalan should fare better against a fellow striker and MMA rookie in Dima, who is a Khmer boxing veteran.
Catalan, is 0-1, while Dima is just making his transition into MMA.
Catalan is a four-time Wushu world titleholder and has won in the Wushu World Championships in 2003 and 2005 and the Wushu World Cup in 2004 and 2006. He holds gold medals in the Asian Games, Southeast Asian Games and the Asian Wushu Championships.
In the main event, interim ONE FC bantamweight titlist Bibiano Fernandes (14-3) unifies his crown against regular ONE FC bantamweight king Soo Chul Kim (7-4).
Japanese superstar and ONE FC lightweight champion Shinya Aoki (33-6) drops down to the featherweight division to take on American Cody Stevens (11-5) in a non-title bout.
