Sunday, September 29, 2013
THE matches of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) volleyball tournament were postponed yesterday after the University of San Jose Recoletos courts
were unplayable because these got rained on.
Matches will resume on Tuesday as scheduled but yesterday’s postponed matches will be played next weekend.
Starting tomorrow, all matches will now be held at the Aznar Coliseum, the home court of the Southwestern University Lady Cobras.
With the semifinal round winding down, the Lady Cobras just might be getting their much-needed boost with a homecourt edge when they play their remaining matches.
SWU hopes to score its scond win when they take on the USJ-R Lady Jaguars when matches resume on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
SWU won a grand slam before the 2012 champion University of San Carlos (USC) barred them last year from winning a four-peat.
This year, the squad hopes to reclaim their dominance and will be aiming to win their second straight win. SWU is currently holding a 1-0 (win-loss) record in the semis.
USJR, on the other hand, already suffered two losses after bowing to the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU).
CDU is currently leading with a 2-0 record, while USPF currently has 1-2.
In the girls high school division, reigning champion team USJR backed by coach Roldan Potot will play the Sacred Heart Schools-Ateneo de Cebu in the game opener. Both teams hold a 0-1 win-loss record. USC has 1-0 and SWU has 2-1.
In the men’s collegiate division, USPF and USJ-R share the same standing with one win each. SWU and UV are both winless. In the boys division, the reigning champion team of USJ-R and USPF also have the same standing of 1-0, while Don Bosco Technological Center (DBTC) has 0-1. USC has not played yet.
