GILAS Pilipinas mainstay Gary “El Granada” David will get his first acid test wearing the Meralco Bolts uniform in the opening day of the PBA Philippine Cup in Cebu City on Nov. 17.

The Bolts will play sister team Talk ‘N Text Phone Pals at the Cebu Coliseum, in the opening salvo that will see another out-of-town game in Davao City and one in Metro Manila.

“It’s already set. PBA offered us the Meralco-Talk ‘N Text game on opening day. There are also games in Manila and Davao. Our schedule is the opening game at 3 p.m.,” said Juvy Brigoli of Enya Ideals, the local promoter of PBA games in Cebu.

Only two days ago, PBA announced the trade between Meralco and GlobalPort Batang Pier.

The deal sent David and rookie AJ Mandani from GlobalPort to Meralco for guards Chris Ross and Chris Timberlake.

David’s transfer will give Bolts coach Ryan Gregorio a deadly gunner.
