Parkmall to host Green Mile Run-A A +A
Saturday, October 12, 2013
MORE than 2,000 runners are expected to join the Parkmall Green Mile Anniversary Fun Run slated on Oct. 27 at the Parkmall.
It will be the highlight of the mall’s fifth anniversary and promotes its health advocacy.
This was disclosed by Parkmall’s marketing supervisor Genica Mijares yesterday.
The run will feature a half-marathon distance run, 15K, 6K, 3K and a one-kilometer “run with your dog category”.
The proceeds of the race will be for Island Rescue Organization (IRO), which is an advocate for equal and humane treatment of animals in the country, and children with cancer of the Freeman Foundation.
“In Parkmall, we always believe in giving back to the community and this is how we do it through our beneficiaries,” said Co.
During yesterday’s brief presentation, a report showed that there are about 4,975 children diagnosed with cancer and most of those who weren’t able to survive were those experiencing financial difficulties.
This is one of the reasons the run is titled “Green Mile.” According to Co, they want to go an extra mile in reaching out to these children and help them cope with the disease and have the chance to live normally.
Co also added that they are urging the local running community to pick a name of a child with cancer.
On race day, these names will be pinned on their race bibs to symbolize that they are running for this child.
A total of P75,000 in cash prizes will be at stake.
The registration will start this Monday.
The registration fees are pegged at P250 for the 1K run, P300 for the 3K, P350 for the 6K, 400 for the 15K and 450 for the 21K distance run. The registration centers wil be at Parkmall and A Runners Circle in Raintree Mall.
