LEYLAM FC Boys Under-18 will join Singapore’s biggest international youth tournament, Singa Cup, on Nov. 4 to 8 at The Cage Sports Park, Turf City in Singapore.
“It will be the first time. We have had a lot of success in the local tournaments. We want to challenge ourselves in the international tournament,” Leylam FC team owner Ugur Tasci told Sun.Star Cebu last Thursday.
Leylam FC is in Group of the Boys Under-18 division along with Thailand’s YFH Phuket, Indonesia’s Skayu Youth Football Academy and Footskills.
Group A has Ateneo de Manila, Glacier FC, Football West and Javan Hawk Academy.
“Our expectations are that the team will represent good sportsmanship and show that the Philippines can challenge other Asian countries. Our goal is to at least reach the finals. If we can bring home the trophy, why not? We want to prove that it is not only the Azkals that have success but also a local club,” said Tasci.
Leylam FC is composed of Jupert Remollo, Orson Tan, Allain Abell, Christian Agot, Junjay Arizabal, Willfred Villaver, Christian Paez, Edward Belo and Vinson Nery of the University of San Carlos, Luis Garciano of the University of Cebu, Evren and Baris Tasci of South Hills and Philip Fernandez, Aldrich Pelenio of the Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus and Julian Miranda.
Leylam FC has two games on opening day against YFH Phuket at and against Sekayu Youth Football Academy at 3 p.m.
