Pantino loses to Kunsuwan for 3rd time in Thailand-A A +A

CEBU’s Arthur Craig “Iggy” Pantino failed to avenge his loss as he succumbed once more to Nutthasith Kunsuwan, 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the final leg of the LTAT U-14 Thailand Circuit Series.
This is their third encounter and Pantino, 12, of the University of San Carlos-Basic Education Department (USC-BED) South Campus wanted to finally beat Kunsuwan and reach the finals for a third title in the four-leg series, but Kunsuwan just won’t let him.
“I could have beat him if I played better with my temper,” said Pantino, who is backed by the Philippine Tennis Academy (PTA) and Kirschbaum Strings.
The first time Pantino lost to Kunsuwan was in the Langkawi Geopark International Junior Tennis Tournament in 2010 and then in the finals in the first leg of this Thailand Circuit Series.
However, according to Pantino, he may not have won the third title in the four-leg Thailand series but the experience has helped him a lot in improving his game.
“The international exposure helped a lot. I learned that there are a lot of really good foreign players who play so much better than me. This made me want to practice harder to be able to compete with them,” said Pantino.
Currently No. 4 in the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) ranking of the Boys 14-under division, Pantino is setting his eyes again on the top plum of the Qatar Asian 14/U Junior Championship 2013 on Nov. 25-Dec. 3 in Doha, Qatar.
Pantino will be the lone Filipino representative in this tournament, wherein he is expecting much tougher foes because it is a championship series.
“I joined this because this is a championship series and ATF points are big. This can help improve my national ranking and ATF rank before the end of 2013,” said Pantino
“I will be expecting this tournament to be very tough. Although I don’t have any idea who will be joining but I believe they will be really good because of the big points at stake here,” said Pantino.
