MANILA—Rain or Shine seeks to take solo ownership of the second spot in the 39th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup overall ranking when it faces San Mig Coffee at 8 p.m. in the main game of tonight’s double header at the Araneta Coliseum.
Meanwhile, the Meralco Bolts and Globalport tangle in the opening game at 5:45 p.m.
The Elasto Painters are currently locked in a three-way logjam at second spot along with Ginebra Kings and Talk 'N Text with similar 3-1 win-loss slates.
Coach Yeng Guiao of Rain or Shine cautioned his wards of complacency saying the Coffee Mixers are coming off a big win over Air 21 via double overtime, 92-83, to barge into the win column (1-3) last Sunday. Rain or Shine's lone setback was at the hands of Ginebra, 84-97 on Nov. 24.
In the other match, Meralco is seeking for its third win in five outings to get away from a tie with Barako Bull. Both are carrying 2-2 card.
Coach Ryan Gregorio's Meralco B-Boys are likewise hoping for their third straight win following wins over Air 21 (112-79) on Nov. 27 and Ginebra Kings (100-87) last Tuesday.
He will lean on Jared Dillinger, Mike Cortez, Gary David, Rabeh Al-Hussaini, John Wilson, James Sena and Sunday Salvacion against Globalport's rookies Terrence Romeo and Ryan Roose Garcia and veterans Jay Washington, Eric Menk and Solomon Mercado.
