MANILA — The country’s representatives in basketball, boxing, women’s football and canoe kayak left Wednesday for the 27th Southeast Asian Games set to start Dec. 11 to 22 in Myanmar.

The 210-man Team Philippines, which is seeking to improve its sixth place finish in Indonesia in 2011, expressed readiness to battle in the 11-nation regional meet, which will be held in four cities, Naypyidaw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwesaung Beach.

More than 10,000 athletes and officials from Southeast Asia are expected to attend the sports conclave, which offers a total of 33 disciplines and 460 events. Team Philippines, headed by chef-de-mission Jeff Tamayo, is seeing action in only 26 disciplines.
