THE Philippine Youth 13-Under Team proved too tough for the local squads as the collection of players from Manila easily wiped out opposition from the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eaglets, following a 78-53 win at the start of the Cebu Elite Christmas Invitational Tournament at the University of San Carlos Gym last night.
In the other game, the University of San Carlos Baby Warriors started strong and never looked back to beat the Don Bosco Technological Center Greypups, 57-39.
Today, the games will be held in separate venues. At 10 a.m. the Magis Eaglets and Greypups will shoot for first win at the Don Vicente Sotto Sports Complex in Punta Princesa while at 7 p.m. the game will be in Sibonga town with the visiting RP Youth squad to play against the USC Baby Warriors.
The national squad allowed the Eaglets to catch up in the first quarter before
breaking the game wide open in the second period.
JC Baltazar sank four triples to score the game high 14 points, Karl Bautista and Daniel Paule added 12 points each and Desmond Santos finished with 10 points for the RP Youth squad while Lyder Canieso was the lone SHS-AdC player to score in double digits with 15 points and Eric Tuadles finishing with nine markers.
USC, meanwhile, had a fluid first half, holding the Greypups to just seven points for while scoring 32 points with Neon Chavez leading the charge.
DBTC was able to answer USC’s every basket but they failed to come up with monumental run that could ignite life back to the Greypups.
James Adlawan topscored for DBTC with nine points.
