JOEL Detuya and Jennalyn Camansu captured the men’s and women’s 5K run titles, respectively, in the Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 7 “Run For A Cause” yesterday in Camp Sergio Osmeña grounds.
Detuya crossed the finish line in 21:13:83 to beat Alcher Sanopao by just a second.
Sanopao clocked 21:14:09 to settle for second place, while Riche Bation, who finished in 21:23:61, came in third.
In the distaff side, Camansu stamped her class after clocking 22:25:18 and enjoyed a minute lead over closest rival Christy Tutor, who came in at 23:33:72 for second place. Jade Abellana came in third with 23:50:45.
PNP Region 5 chief clerk Edgar Eyac, a member of the organizing committee, said they were able to attract more than 1,200 participants, who are mostly uniformed personnel coming from the PNP offices from the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu and the Region 7 office headed by Regional Director Danilo Santos Constantino.
The run was also joined by personnel from the Central Command.
The proceeds of the run will be donated to the Yolanda survivors in the northern part of Cebu.
“Most of our recipients will be families of active PNP personnel,” said Eyac.
