UNBEATEN Cebuano prospect Jack Tepora makes another trip to Mindanao to showcase his wares against his toughest opposition next month.
Tepora is facing fellow prospect Edward Mansito on Feb. 8 in Davao City.
“Yes. He has a good record. We won’t take any chances. Yes, I think he is the toughest opponent of Jack,” Jack’s older brother and trainer Christopher “Ping-Ping” Tepora told Sun.Star Cebu.
The 21-year-old Mansito is an 11-fight veteran with an 8-1-2 slate with five knockouts. He has won all three of his fights last year against journeymen Donriel Marcos, twice, and Roland Teofilo, all by stoppage. Mansito is on a five-fight winning streak.
“We have not seen his fights. That is why we won’t take him for granted,” said Christopher.
The 18-year-old Tepora, a former amateur standout, has so far been impressive in his career as a pro. He has won all his fights and has logged a record of 9-0 with five knockouts.
Tepora, a mainstay at Cebu City’s Omega Boxing Gym, has caught the eye of Manny Pacquiao’s MP Promotions. His last two fights were under the MP Promotions banner and he had an impressive showing, winning one-sided unanimous decisions over Danilo Gabisay and Alvin Makiling.
Tepora also shared the same training camp with Pacquiao.
“I think they are still interested with him because they are still giving him fights,” Christopher said of his younger sibling’s chances of being signed under MP Promotions.
