RACE organizer Rio Dela Cruz of Run Rio Inc. said he was overwhelmed by how successful the Cebu Marathon was despite the downpour.
“Overall, I am very happy and very fulfilled that the race was a success. Masaya makita mo ang mga runners enjoying the entertainment stations along the 14 hydration stations. Kahit na umuulan, still nakikita mo ang mga participants masayang-masaya,” said Dela Cruz.
Dela Cruz hopes that next year, they will be able to attract more foreign runners to join the race.
Cebu City Councilor Richie Osmeña was also happy with the success of the race.
“Every CCM has always been great. This year, it was even greater, thus giving the organizers a great challenge to put up something even bigger next year. Well, in spite of the non-cooperative weather, the turn-out was great. Less stress and injuries,” said Osmeña.
City Councilor Mary Ann Delos Santos was also impressed with this year’s staging of the CCM.
“It was very successful. This year’s marathon was wet from the start to finish but it failed to hamper the participants’ spirit. It was more lively and fun. For me, it was really the best weather,” said Delos Santos.
Hazel Busa, who was one of the more than 3,000 participants, also commended the participants and described the race as one of the best races that she has joined.
“Nakakita ko sa set-up from Talisay to I.T. Park. Very lively and I really had fun.
However, I hope next year they will give prizes to the top 10 finishers not only the top three winners,” said Busa.
Vissuelo “Soybitz” Rebojo, a barefoot runner, said he was also satisfied with the race but suggest that there will also be lots of food in the 2015 edition.
“As a barefooter, I am happy with the weather. Thankful ko kay daghan kaayo marshalls, Citom personnel, police volunteers as well as volunteers manning the water and aid stations. We really enjoyed the route. However, hopefully next year instead of more drinks, nindot sad unta daghan sad food. I was with the last pack of runners and medyo wala na food. But still the event was a success,” said Rebojo.
