TWO more champions were crowned yesterday in the 16th Aboitiz Football Cup on the Aboitiz Sports Field.
Erco FC snagged the Inter-Company title with a 3-1 escape over T-United, while Convergys took home the BPO Ladies title with a 2-0 victory over Lexmark.
Jesus Menaling drew first blood by scoring a quick goal in the ninth minute before Kurt Acre equalized for T-United in the 43rd minute.
Jessie Melgo gave Erco FC the lead with a goal in the 45th minute, and before T-United could react, Philip Denuyo made it 3-1 less than a minute later.
Leylam FC bagged third place honors with a 3-0 win over San Miguel FC.
Leylam FC’s Sem Tasci finished as the division’s top scorer. Erco FC’s Menaling was named the division’s MVP, while his teammate Melgo was declared the best midfielder. T-United’s Jan Nacional and Glen Ocaña were named the best defender and best goalkeeper, respectively.
Convergys walked away with a relatively easy win over Lexmark, who failed to score a single goal in the match.
Claire Borlas hit the back of the net in the 27th minute, while Tanya Chica sealed the deal in the 36th minute.
Accenture beat NCR, 3-0, in the battle-for-third match.
Arcenia Cenabre of Lexmark ended up as the division’s top scorer. Chica bagged the MVP honors, while teammates Tessa Juanillo and Joan Suening were named best defender and goalkeeper, respectively. Lexmark’s Napa Siriganjanapong was named the best midfielder.
Erco FC was also victorious in the Men’s Open division with a 4-0 drubbing of San Roque Rehab, while their 38-and-Above squad settled for a 1-1 draw with Hiroshi FC.
