SAN Mig Coffee tries to notch its 11th crown today when it battles Rain or Shine in Game 6 of the best-of-seven titular series in the 39th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine cup at theAraneta Coliseum.
After failing to end the series last Sunday, the Coffee Mixers claim they have still the psychological edge in their 8 p.m. match against the Elasto Painters.
However, the Elasto Painters of coach Yeng Guiao said their confidence is in high level following their 81-74 victory in Game 5 that narrowed down the series, 2-3.
Guiao said they will do all just to force a winner-take-all match.
“They may have the advantage, but we wiil take a lot of encouragement and hope to send the series into full distance. Even if we’re behind, it’s not over yet. We have to believe in ourselves and stay positive,” said Guiao, who is tied with Tommy Manotoc with six titles behind Baby Dalupan (15), Tim Cone (15), Norman Black (10), Chot Reyes (9) and Jong Uichico (8).
The Elasto Painters won the opening game in the series, 80-83, but lost in the second, 80-70 as well as the third 77-76. Then San Mig stretched the gap 3-1 following a 93-90 triumph in Game 4 on Friday.
“Next game kukunin namin yan, kahit gaano kahirap. Binigay namin lahat noong Game 5, pero mas gutom sila so babawiin namin (We gave it our all but they were thehungrier team. So we’ll bounce back)next game,” said San Mig’s MarcPingris.
