THE Bogo 8080 Triathlon on May 11 has attracted close to 200 participants.
“There are 120 participants for the 8080 individual category and 35 for the 4040 half-distance category. Ten have registered for the full distance relay and eight for the half-relay,” said event organizer Steve Maniquis of Cornerstone Group.
Dominant teams like Omega Pro and Parklane Tri have also signed up with Omega Pro sending all their team members, while the Parklane Tri will have five triathletes.
Parklane’s Kristianne Lim recently powered his team to victory in the second leg of Tri-Team Championship series in Santa Fe, Bantayan last April 13. He will be joining Cyanil Gonzalez, Ralph Arche, Bobby Martinez and Anton Regis in Bogo.
“I don’t really expect much coming into Bogo 8080. it marks the end of my base training phase for my preparations for the upcoming Ironman 70.3 in August. But I am trying to be in good shape for Bogo,” Lim told Sun.Star Cebu.
Omega Pro, on the other hand, will lean on top female contender Lorhiz Echavez-Lopez.
She topped the women’s open division in the National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) in Danao and the women’s individual open in the Tri Team Championships in Santa Fe, Bantayan.
The other contenders are Abet Biagan, Gerry Calinawan and Mendel Lopez of Fish 18 Tri team, while the contenders for the women’s title are Louie Villacin, Cianyl Gonzalez and Nia Aldeguer. (RSC)
