SEVENTH SEED Air 21 Express aim for a commanding 2-0 lead when theybattle San Mig Coffee in Game 2 of the best-of-five semifinal round of the 39th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Express, fresh from their stunning 103-100 win over the heavily favored Coffee Mixers on Tuesday, expressed confidence when they collide in the lone game at 8 p.m.

“We still need to win two more games to wrap the series. Our victory in Game 1 was just a small step. But the beauty right now is we are staying within our course. We will sieze the moment. We are the uninvited guest here in the semis,” said Air 21 coach Franz Pumaren.

Pumaren said that they are now in high spirits following their third straight win, including two over the San Miguel Beermen in the quarterfinal round.

Despite the big win, Pumaren cautioned his wards to keep their focus because he is expecting the Coffee Mixers to bounce back.

He said Game 2 would be another down-the-wire battle similar to Game 1, which resulted to eight deadlocks and five lead changes before they took a 10-point lead in the crucial stretch courtesy of Asi Taulava,Wesley Whitherspoon and Sean Anthony.

San Mig coach Tim Cone, who was ejected in the last 1:17 of the opening game, will lean on import James Mays, Mark Barroca, James Yap, Marc Pingris, rookies Ian Sangalang and Justin Melton and Joe Devance in their effort to level the semis series.

The winner between the Coffee Mixers and the Express will face the victor between Rain or Shine and Talk ‘N Text in the best-of-fivefinals.

The Tropang Texters, who were leading, 1-0, were still playing the Elasto Painters in Game 2 at presstime.
