CEBUANO triathletes will troop to Bohol on May 23 to 25 for the Defy123 triathlon and the Giro d’Luca.
The second edition of Defy123 triathlon will be on May 25 at The Bellevue Resort Panglao Island, and will have international triathletes in the field.
“We have competitors from Manila, Bohol, Australia, Taiwan and many other nationalities but we are not sure if they are from abroad or are expats living in the Philippines,” event organizer Guy Concepcion told Sun.Star Cebu in a telephone interview.
This year, Defy123 will have the same route as last year but with different feel and view.
“Our bike route used to feature the beautiful churches in Bohol. Now they will be reminded of fallen structures due to the earthquake,” he said.
Parklane tri-team will send some of its riders to compete in Defy 123.
“Two of us will be racing, Emmanuel Commendador and Stefan Cagulada. As for me, I will be resting since I have been racing a lot this year,” Kristiane Lim said.
Australia’s Michael Murphy, Monica Torres of the Philippines, and Fitness First will try to defend their crown in men’s, women’s and team divisions.
Defy 123 will have 1-kilometer swim, 110K bike and a 12K run and will start at 10 a.m.
On the other hand, Cebu-based teams Isuzu D-MAX, Team TTB, Omega Pro, Fish18 and Reborn are also set for the second year of Giro d’Luca 2014-- an annual cycling event held in Bohol.
The three-day event will cover 520 kilometers—180 kilometers in the first day, 150 in the second day and 190 in the third day.
