Simat, Ramirez top Home Run 2014

KENYAN Isaac Simat and Meeries Ramirez captured men’s and women’s 12K title in the fourth run of Primary Homes Incorporated—Home Run 2014—yesterday at the Cebu Business Park.

Simat clocked 40 minutes and 22 seconds to his stamp victory over fellow Kenyan Douglas Mwiti, who crossed the finish line in 41:34. Florentino Arnel came in third at 43:51, while another Kenyan Abraham Missos took fourth place in 45:38. Former Cebu’s athlete of the year, Tirso Pamaybay, who continued to contend with younger runners logged in 46:14 to complete the Top 5 list.

In the women’s division, Ramirez dominated and finished in 54:54 almost five minutes ahead of Mary Jane Beboso (59:02). Leonora Martos came third in 1:03:32 followed by Tessie Escasinas (1:05:53) and Emeralde Hermosilla (1:09:57).

In the 6K category, Robert Daang topped the men’s division in 20:13, while the race for the second place was neck-and-neck with Jodell Batarilan coming in just two seconds ahead of Rony Andrin (21:15). The women’s division was won by Cherry Andrin in 25:16. Vlessica Jagna came second in 26:02, while Lynle Cardenas came in third at 26:30.

In the 3K category, the men’s division was won by Jolan Olmilla finishing in 10:35. Razel Ardeinte came in second in 10:50, while Jerald Berengel took third place in 10:55.

In the women division, taking the top three were Michelle Beboso (13:21), Roselyn Sevilleno (13:53) and Mary Joy Castor (13:55).

The 6K duo race was won by Lucille Ruiz and Desederio Enbino, while the 3K duo was topped by Cristy Sevellino and Michael Largo.

This was the first time the annual run had an open category, since the previous three editions were exclusive only for their employees, business partners and individual with careers affiliated to the company.

Race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiast (Safe) said that the event drew almost 900 participants. (RSC)
