AS EXPECTED, Team Cebu City turned over a huge number of medals at the conclusion of the Dancesport competition of the POC-PSC Philippine National Games 2014.

Dancesport TCC’s show of force earned them half of the gold medals at stake, with seven. The team also got two silvers and two bronze medals in the competition held at the Makati Coliseum.

Couples Andrew Ysla and Kathlene Joy Diluvio, Zijane Troy and Zijana Tracy Villarta, John Paul Mocorro and Therese Andre Quilaton won two gold medals each and Bert Kevin Deluvio and Jam Flores had one for the Crisaldo “Loloi” Rendon-mentored Dancesport TCC.

Ysla and Diluvio won the gold medals in the Standard Youth C and Latin Youth C; the Villartas topped the 3-dance Standard Youth B and 5-dance Youth A competitions; while Mocorro and Quilaton won the 3-dance Latin Youth B and 5-dance Latin Youth A competitions.

Those who won silver medals for DTCC were Romeo Jay Cialbo and Mae Pabuaya (Standard Adult C) and Jeffrey Ruben Benarao and Mary Mae Canillo in the Latin Adult C competition.

TCC’s top bet Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Marie Cañeda settled for the bronze medal in the Latin Elite – Adult A 5-dance competition and Deluvio and Flores got the bronze medal in the Latin Adult C category.

The medal haul was five golds less than last year’s competition as the organizers reduced the number of categories this year from 22 in 2013 to 14.

Cebu City Sports Commission sent 12 pairs to compete.
