M. Rama Chess sets big stakes

HUGE cash prizes are at stake in the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (Cepca)-organized Mayor Mike Rama Chess Cup 2014, which is an Open Active Tournament scheduled this Friday and Saturday in SM City-Cebu Event Center.

The tournament offers more than P75,000 in cash prizes up to the 30th placer. It will follow a 9-round Swiss system format with time control of 30 minutes plus five-second increment to finish the match.

The champion will be going home with P15,000, P10,000 to the second placer, P7,000 to the third placer, P5,000 will go to the fourth finisher and P3,000 to the fifth placer.

The 6th to the 10th placers will pocket P1,500 each, while the 11th to the 20th placers will receive P1,000 each and the 21st to the 30th placers will be rewarded with P500 each.

Cepca will also award special prizes to the top three Seniors, top three Cepcans, top 3 Juniors, top 3 Ladies and top 3 Kiddies (14U) finishers.

This event is held in cooperation with the Cebu City Sports Commission and the Cebu City Government.
