MANILA — The Meralco Bolts crushed Globalport in a high scoring game, 123-95, to complete their elimination round with a big bang on Saturday in the 39th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor’s Cup at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan, Laguna.
Gary David finished with 33 points, import Mario West bid farewell with a splended triple-double performance and Reynel Hugnatan figured in a double-double to lead Meralco’s onslaught that saw them lead by as much as 22 points twice.
Meralco finished the short elimination round with a 3-6 card while Globalport Batang Pier settled at the bottom with just a 1-8 win-loss slate. Their lone win was over Alaska Aces, 95-91, on May 23.
However, even if Meralco can tie Barako Bull with a similar card at the end of the elimination, the Energy Cola will clinch the eighth and last quarterfinal slot because of their 95-94 win over the Bolts in their lone meeting last May 18. (FCC)
