AFTER three days of adventure racing, only three out of 12 teams made it to the finish line in the toughest adventure race of the Philippines: the 2014 Carrera Habagat last Sunday in Bohol.
Team Adrenaline out of Manila crossed the finish line first at 8 a.m to win the title.
The team is composed of Thumbie Remegio, Anna Marissa Remegio, triathlete Franklin Peñalosa and Christopher Eyao, with support crews Erwin Emata and Narciso Arayata.
Cebu’s bet Team Islands demonstrated a great team spirit and arrived at 5:40 p.m to claim the first runner-up trophy.
Team Islands is bannered by adventure racer Niño Abarquez, ultra marathoner Jade Abellana, triathlete and adventure race Rico Valentin, and Allan Chiongbian, with support crews Ferdinand Marcial Hermoso and Ryan Viajedor.
“Every race was held in different islands, terrains and features. This is where the adventure begins. We covered 90 percent of the total areas (400 kilometers for four days). It’s tough out here,” team captain Abarquez told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.
Team Trione of Dumaguete rounded up the three finishers and clocked 6:18 p.m to salvage third place. The members are Olive Rose Salve, Simon Flores, Miguel Antonio Gonzalez, with support crews Anthony Allanic and Ja Silvestre.
