USC teams stamp class in Milo Best caging-A A +A

THE University of San Carlos (USC) showed why they are titleholders of both the Passerelle and SBP divisions of the Cebu leg of the Milo Best SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament following one-sided victories yesterday.
The USC Passerelle team was on a different level with University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and demolished the latter, 82-35 at the USC-North Campus Gym.
The game was competitive at first with the Warriors up ahead by just four at the end of the opening quarter.
USC started to heat up in the second with the balance scoring performance by their second five despite the offensive onslaught of Vince Obales, who exploded for 15 points in that period. The Warriors were in front by eight, 34-26, at halftime.
The third would be the breakout quarter for the defending Passerelle division champion, wherein they held USPF scoreless. USC scored 34 points in that quarter, in which Daniel Rodriguez and Ralph Bande combined for 26 points to make it a 64-26 ballgame.
USPF dug a hole that was so deep that they couldn’t get back into the ballgame in the remaining quarter.
Rodriguez and Bande scored 14 points each for USC, while Obales scored 22 points for USPF.
USC’s SBP squad manhandled Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC), 85-14, also at the USC-North Campus Gym.
It was never close from start to finish with USC showing its championship form.
Vince Razo, Reinhard Jumamoy and Brandon Largo were in double figures for USC with 12, 11 and 10 points respectively.
In other SBP games, University of the Visayas (UV) beat Cebu Eastern College (CEC), 29-14, while Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) crushed University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), 47-23 at the SHS-AdC Mango Campus Gym CEC joins USC for the leadership of Group A of the Passerelle after a win yesterday. CEC demolished USJ-R, 91-22.
Passerelle division runner-up UV and SHS-AdC share Group B leadership with convincing wins.
UV thrashed DBTC, 64-24, while SHS-AdC clobbered Southwestern University (SWU), 67-21. (EKA)
