BECAUSE of the still ongoing battle for world chess supremacy among nations, GM John Paul Gomez had to reschedule his clocked simultaneous matches and lecture, which was earlier slated this Sunday at the Cebu School of Chess.
School of Chess managing director IM Kim Steven Yap announced that they were forced to move the event to Sept. 7 because the date of arrival of Gomez, who is currently in Tromso, Norway for the 2014 World Chess Olympiad has also been moved.
“Grand Master John Paul Gomez, who is currently in Tromso, Norway as a member of Team Philippines in the 41st Chess Olympiad, will have to move his Simultaneous event at Cebu School of Chess to September 7, 2014. The event has to be postponed since his arrival in Manila from Norway clashes with the original schedule set on August 17,” IM Yap said in his press release.
Aside from the simultaneous games, Gomez is also scheduled to hold a chess lecture for the participants.
Highlighting the event is the 8-board blind-fold simultaneous game of IM Yap.
