THE RDAK Transporters needed only one strong quarter to silence Echo Appliance, 35-33, and keep their unbeaten streak in Division B of the Avenir Shaabaa Cup at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.
Echo Appliance was leading the low -scoring match before Hotel Fortuna vice president Michael Sy led a telling 17-5 blast that put RDAK up 30-23 entering the final period.
Echo Appliance tried to salvage the game but the team’s 10-point output in the fourth was not enough.
Sy was the lone player to score in double digits as he finished with 12 points for Rdak’s fourth straight win. The team also gained a share of the lead in Division B with Belo Men 98, which also holds a 4-0 record.
Jacob Soberano, on the other hand, scored 12 points to lead White Gold 96 over Shakey’s 94, 53-40, for their first win in the 19th season of Cebu’s oldest alumni league.
Alfonso Cañizares made 10 points as Shakey’s suffered their fourth straight loss.
Meanwhile, Insular Square Titans improved to 3-0 following a one-sided 73-25 win over Batch 2014 in Division A.
After allowing the youngest team to score 10 points in the opening quarter, the Titans held Batch 2014 to just five points in the final three quarters for their 48-point win.
Leigh Dixon topscored for the Titans with 15 points, Franz Gabuya and Jasper Diaz made 12 points each and Joseph Shan had 11. Kylie Lim led Batch 2014 with seven points.
The defending champions Goldberry Ilo-Ilo Hotel flirted with defeat before scoring a 58-54 win over the Rdak Stallions in the other Division A game.
After leading 12-7 in the opening quarter, Goldberry found itself trailing, 19-18, at the close of the first half before taking the third quarter by storm with a 22-15 blitz. RCM
