Friday, August 22, 2014
AFTER missing the two previous stagings, John Philip Dueñas and Mary Joy Tabal will hit the streets of Bohol again in the fourth edition of Bohol International Marathon tomorrow at Panglao Church Plaza.
Dueñas and Tabal won the men’s and women’s half marathon last 2011, the first edition of the footrace, but skipped the last two editions.
Tabal, the Milo Marathon Finals record holder, is back to take another crack at the 21K women’s trophy, while Dueñas, a triathlete and running coach, has decided to join the 42K.
“We joined this race again because we miss running in Bohol,” said Tabal, who has been dominating the weekend races in Cebu.
Aside from the full marathon and half-marathon, the event will also have the 10K and 5K divisions.
Other Cebuanos who are joining the race are Tirso Pamaybay, the University of San Carlos Basic Education (USC-BED) athletics coach, Ruffa Sorongon, who topped the women’s 42K in the Talisay City Marathon last Aug.17, Prince Joy Lee of University of Cebu (UC), Dr. Gerry Mayo and Azlan Pagan.
Gun start for the 42K is at 3 a.m, while the half marathon 21K will start at 4 a.m.
