Telstra hacks upset axe on Convergys-A A +A

TELSTRA Boomerangs dropped the season’s biggest upset after beating the Convergys 1 Wolves, 62-57, to improve their standing in Division 1 of the 2014 CSCC E-Leagues Season X Basketball tournament held at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym last Sunday.
The Boomerangs leaned on a good start to hold off the multi-titled squad, who were totally taken aback by the strong game of Telstra.
Telstra relied on a 21-12 blast in the opening quarter to set the tone of the game, and were unfazed when the Wolves made a rousing attack in the final two quarters to improve its team standings to 3-5.
Convergys 1 suffered its second defeat in eight games and dropped to third place behind defending champions Aegis Vipers and Accenture Sharks who both had 7-1 win-loss slates.
Jake Cainday led Telstra with 21 points on top of seven rebounds, two assists and one steal, while Sam Jordan Hermosa added 15 points also with seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block for Telstra, while Admir Batiancila made 21 points and Joseph Española added 13 for Convergys 1.
The Teletech Titans on the other hand, extended the misery of GGS Griffins following an 81-41 win.
Jaygard Vios, Ralph Huiso and John Felix Cabahug scored 17, 16 and 15 points, respectively, to give Teletech its third win in nine games, while Jerson Mendez topped GGS with 10 points.
The SSI Warriors meanwhile bucked a slow start to repulse the red hot ASI Hardbacks with a 61-57 victory.
Held to just seven points in the opening quarter, SSI labored to erase a 9-point deficit on its way to end its elimination round campaign with a 7-3 win-loss record.
