SCHOOL officials, parents and benefactors of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu feted the Magis Eagles for bringing glory to the school.
Last Wednesday, school president Rev. Fr. Manny A. Uy, SJ and Fr. Julian Hernando and other school officials hosted a thanksgiving dinner for the Magis Eagles, 10 days after returning home with the 8th SeaOil-NBTC National High School trophy.
“This is a year of grace, a year of glory for our school. We celebrate this year the 60th anniversary of our school and what you have given us makes our celebration meaningful. Our basketball program has not only produced champions but young fine gentlemen who have excelled in their respective fields. And as you, seniors, go to the different colleges and universities, I want you to remember that basketball is only temporary. Finish a course for your future,” Fr. Uy said.
Also in attendance were the parents and benefactors who have helped improve the basketball program of the school.
“In 2007 when we started this program, the results were frustrating as we ended up at the bottom but according to Perry (Lim), to become a good team, all we need is to play more games. Play more games. (And) winning the national title (with NCR) teams has proven to be improbable, but you proved it wrong,” SHS-AdC athletic director Rico Navarro said.
