PAREF-Springdale struck back at rival Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) after bringing home the crown in the Boys Under-18 division of the 4th Sun.Star Football Cup last Sunday night at the Cebu City Sports Center football pitch.
Springdale A edged out DBTC A, 1-0, in the championship match for the division’s title.
Jimmy Haosen got the MVP plum.
Springdale A had an unbeaten run in the tournament, and its only blemish was a 1-1 draw with Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) A in the group stage.
Springdale finished at the top of Group 3 with 10 points from three wins and a draw. In the knockout stage, Springdale A eliminated DBTC B, 3-2, in the quarterfinals and then edged out SHS-AdC A, 3-2, in the semis.
DBTC A, which beat Springdale via shootout to win the Cebu City Olympics title, had a flawless group stage performance with 12 points from four victories.
DBTC A crushed Cebu International School, 4-0, in the quarterfinals and then defeated Abellana National School (ANS) A, 2-0, in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Galaxy 7 claimed the Boy’s Under-23 crown after a perfect performance in the division that followed a league format.
In the Girls 23 Under, Gail Colina got the MVP after leading San Roque FC Veterans to the title with 12 points.
