TEAM Philippines stunned the seventh seed Romania on its opening campaign of the Fiba 3x3 World Cup 2017 before losing to 10th seed and host France in its second assignment in Pool B in Nantes, France.

The Philippines defeated Romania, 21-15, but lost to France, 11-22, three hours later.

The team of Cebuano JR Quiñahan, Kobe Paras, Jeron Teng and Keifer Ravena were trailing most of the way until the final three minutes before they turned a closely-fought 13-12 deficit to a 17-13 lead a minute and 20 seconds remaining in contest.

Romania managed to make it 17-15 but Paras scored a two-point shot then scored two more points at the free throw line after stealing the opponent’s possession in the final 30 seconds mark.

However, against France, the Philippines trailed early and failed to recover.
